University Atheletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) cancelled Season 82 sports amd activities due to the risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.

Last April 7, 2020, UAAP Season 82 President, Emmanuel M. Fernandez and Executive Director, Atty. Rene Andrei Saguisag Jr. signed a released statement addressed to the UAAP Community as announcement for the cancellation of postponed sporting events and collegiate tournaments.

As the government announced the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine until April 30 due to continuous rise of COVID-19 positive cases, resumption of postponed collegiate events that was supposed to begin by May can no longer continue.

The league’s decision is for the safety and welfare of student-athletes, coaches, officials, and everyone by ensuring the UAAP Community that all issues regarding the event will be resolved as the crisis cease to an end.

3×3 basketball, football, tennis, softball, baseball, and volleyball are the second semester sporting events that are cancelled events.

Athlete students, players, and fans from different Universities were sad and disappointed about the heartbreaking news but continued to pray for safety of everyone.

Adamson University student-athlete Louie Romero put her thoughts on social media about the issue while she looks forward to Season 83 and hope for betterment of her injured “klasmeyts”/teammates, Chiara Permentilla and Lucille Almonte.
