Falcons’ actions against COVID-19 expansion

Adamson University administration, faculty, and students take precautionary measures within the whole Adamson University to fight against the worldwide outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) last January 31, 2020.

Department of Health’s (DOH) confirmation of positive cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country caused the citizens to be alert in terms of preventing the said virus.

Adamson University partake through with the release of memorandum from the Office of the President signed by Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim to encourage the students, staff, and stakeholders who are prone or who travelled from countries where the virus originated, China, to self-quarantine from January 31 to February 14.

To ensure the protection of everyone, University Administration, and Adamson University Student Government (AUSG), make certain actions on how to fight the disease through distributing alcohol and disinfectants all over the campus from gates, restrooms, and school grounds last February 3, 2020.

Updates also scattered on their online pages about helpful reminder and information regarding Coronavirus Disease to make sure that students are well-informed about the virus and practicing safety habits such as washing hands, social distancing, and wearing of masks.

“The school administration is doing its best for the protection of everyone. With that, I commend their efforts in making sure that everyone is safe and sound. In regarding to the issue about the first release of the memorandum, I appreciate the President’s action in revising the memo to avoid any misunderstanding of the message.” One of the insights of Financial Management first-year student in Adamson, Marinella Joy Erni.

Students also have different takes and comments to the administrations’ actions to prevent the virus. “All I can is I just hope that the University will give out free surgical masks in every student, faculty members and staff within the whole university. An additional of having temperature scanners for students would also be beneficial in detecting if one of the students have been infected.” Said one of BS Geology first-year student.

School administration responded that they are doing their best to find where they can order and buy surgical masks since the stocks are running out and the demand is continuously growing. They assured that they are making an action and reminded everyone to stay safe and healthy.

OSA motivates Vincentian Student Leaders, acknowledge outstanding RSOs

Formation Program with the context of the performance and leadership of Vincentian Student Leaders at the Co Po Ty Audio-Visual Hall last February 1, 2020.

The Adamson Chronicle (TAC), Association of Campus Student Advisers (ACSA), Adamson University Student Government (AUSG), and OSA Development Section discussed their Mid-Year report of their accomplishments, activities, future plans, and other announcements to the Vincentian Student Leaders. Guest speakers Ms. Pamela Mantuhac, Dr. Lilian Gui, and Atty. Joseph Noel Estrada discussed about Vincentian Formation, Resilient Leadership, and Cyber Safety and Data Privacy Act, respectively.

The event was gone to by the 39 Recognized Student Organizations (RSO) in which ten most outstanding organization and top three bulletin boards were chosen.

Top performing RSO and top bulletin board was taking by the Adamson University – Association of Civil Engineering Students (AdU-ACES), followed by Adamson University Chemical Engineering Students Society (AdU-ChESS) their fellow engineering organization.

College of Business Administration bagged both third and fourth place, Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA-AdU) and Adamson Junior Marketing Association (AdJMA) respectively. AdJMA was followed by Academic Scholars Alliance (ASA-AdU), Junior Financial Executives (JFINEX), AdU Computer Engineering Society, Adamson University Psychological Society, Junior Pharmacists’ Association – Rho Chapter and Adamson University Petroleum Engineering Student Society both topped 9th, and lastly, Enactus – AdU.

The awarding of the Recognized Student Organizations concluded the whole program for the Mid-Year and everyone was looking forward to the annual Adamson Student Awards for the year-end evaluation of the RSOs.

Threat of Taal: 2020 Volcanic Eruption

Last January 12, 2020, Taal Volcano, located at San Nicolas-Batangas, after 42 years of being inactive, erupted once again.


January 12, Sunday afternoon, Taal Volcano started spewing ashes that made the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised its alert level status to level two.


Few hours later, PHIVOLCS raised again the alert status level into 4 due to the ashes and rocks fragments that reached 10-15 kilometer high.
Residents living near the volcano, including the tourists, were urged to evacuate immediately, and not to hesitate leaving their homes.
According to PHIVOLCS, Taal Volcano’s last eruption was recorded on October 1977. As a result, millions of property was affected which leads to a huge damage for the residents who were living near the said volcano.


There are also reported cases where the ashes coming from Taal Volcano has reached to some places in Metro Manila and other city near Batangas.
