AdU crowns UAAP Season 82 Girls Basketball co-champions

Baby Lady Falcons and Junior Growling Tigresses have named Season 82 Girls Basketball co-champions in the UAAP.

With the cancellation of the remaining events due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the UAAP Season 82, the winner-take-all Girls’ Basketball game between Adamson University and Santo Tomas University will no longer be played.

As such, Adamson Baby Lady Falcons and UST Junior Growling Tigresses was announced co-champions in the demonstration of sport and knotted this series before cancellation.

UST took game one, 73-68, before Adamson forced a 79-74 game 2 victory in a rubber match.

Meanwhile, De La Salle-Zobel (3rd, 2-4) and Ateneo High School (4th, 0-6) also played in such a tournament’s first staging of the season.

Green Archers conquer Soaring Falcons on Men’s Football Tournament

Men’s Football Team of Adamson University had been defeated against De La Salle Green Archer on the score 1-2 held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium last March 8, 2020.

However, the game still became a threat to the De La Salle Green Archers as the Soaring Falcons became poised in the 52-minute mark of Franck Anoh from the opponent.

Head coach Joplong Brillantes believed that the Adamson ‘booters’ currently on its way towards more victories in the UAAP Men’s Football Tournament despite of the 0-2 record.

“After nung game natin against UE, talaga na low morale ang mga players natin. Pero sa the way na pinakita nila ngayon sa totoo lang sobrang saya ko dahil kahit bata sila lumalaban sila sa Lasalle na finalist nga last season,” said Head Coach Joplong Brillantes.

According to the source (The Adamson Chronicle), on the 31st minute of game, the Adamson University team conquest against the opponent through corner kicks of Dexter Casing versus Bryce Rabino.

“The way na pinuntahan (ng team), maganda naman. At least ngayon nakikita na hindi na talunan yung Adamson, lumalaban na,” Head Coach Brillantes added.

The game with 30 minutes remaining, the Green Archers’ sophomore winger, Mikio Umilin, wrapped off the game on second point that took down the Soaring Falcon Team.

Due to the continuously widespread of COVID19 around the world, many events are withdrawn and call off – including the Adamson University vs. National University Football match which expected to be held on March 20. As the State of Public Health Emergency advised, the whole UAAP Season 82 game schedules were cancelled.

Cancellation of UAAP Season 82

University Atheletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) cancelled Season 82 sports amd activities due to the risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.

Last April 7, 2020, UAAP Season 82 President, Emmanuel M. Fernandez and Executive Director, Atty. Rene Andrei Saguisag Jr. signed a released statement addressed to the UAAP Community as announcement for the cancellation of postponed sporting events and collegiate tournaments.

As the government announced the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine until April 30 due to continuous rise of COVID-19 positive cases, resumption of postponed collegiate events that was supposed to begin by May can no longer continue.

The league’s decision is for the safety and welfare of student-athletes, coaches, officials, and everyone by ensuring the UAAP Community that all issues regarding the event will be resolved as the crisis cease to an end.

3×3 basketball, football, tennis, softball, baseball, and volleyball are the second semester sporting events that are cancelled events.

Athlete students, players, and fans from different Universities were sad and disappointed about the heartbreaking news but continued to pray for safety of everyone.

Adamson University student-athlete Louie Romero put her thoughts on social media about the issue while she looks forward to Season 83 and hope for betterment of her injured “klasmeyts”/teammates, Chiara Permentilla and Lucille Almonte.

Lit the torch: Opening of PALAKASAN Sports Festival 2020

Adamson University (AdU) students participated in the opening ceremony of PALAKASAN: Sports Festival 2020 held on March 7, 2020 at JP Court.

Spearheaded by the Adamson University Student Government (AUSG), the annual event finally kicked off with a parade at 10:00 a.m. from ST Quadrangle to JP Court. Adamsonian school spirit boosted as they marched while waving their banners and showing their team’s pride.

The program ceremony, hosted by Excel Fasalbon, Vince Aure, and Dorielyn Albao, begun with the invocation of Adamsonian Prayer led by Shelah Felias then singing of National Anthem and Adamson Hymn followed.

Representatives from Creative Communicators Society of AdU (CreaComms), AdU Computer Science Society (ACOMMS), Gravity Set (G-Set), and Junior Adamson Association (JMA) jointly led together for the lighting of torch. Soon after was the oath of sportsmanship followed, led by Dorielyn Albao, AUSG President, to uphold truthfulness and fairness of every participant in each game.

Adamsonian’s spirit uplifted even more as the muses and escorts took pride to introduce their team through chants and cheers. The event ended as the muses and escorts, together with the hosts, performed the solidarity dance along the beat of the song, “Shine Your Way.”

Right away, basketball and volleyball games have started. This inter-collegiate sports fest will continue until April 25, 2020 – including other traditional games such as chess, badminton, and game of the generals and the first-ever eSports Competition on Tekken 7 and Mobile Legends.

Falcon Pride: 19-year-old Adamsonian wins SEA Games

19-year-old Filipino athlete won back to back gold and silver medal in 41st World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Carlos “Caloy” Yulo, first male Southeast Asian gymnastic to win in the Worlds Artistic Gymnastics Championships, bags home 2 gold and 5 silver medals last 2019 SEA Games Event held in the Philippines.

During his stay in the Philippines, he went back to his former school in Adamson University were the students welcome him with a big smile on their face and loud voice calling his name.

Caloy has a lot of scheduled interview after going back to their house at Manila.
In an interview with Caloy, he said that in every competition, he didn’t expect anything on it. He just surely does the correct stunts.

Caloy almost quit gymnastic because he felt so hard and tired but his mother talked and encourage him to support him in any of his decision. This serves as a motivation for Caloy to decide to continue.

Caloy saw the result of his hardwork when he won bronze medal in Worlds Championship in 2018.
In 2019, while the Philippine Anthem started to play, Caloy felt so much happiness as he prayed his gratitude to win the gold medal in World Artistic Gymnatics Championship.

After this tournament, Caloy will have next gymnastic competition in 2020 at Tokyo Olympics with a hope that Filipinos will still support him.
